Snippets from my Sabbatical - Lofoten Islands

Hi dear readers,

Just wanted to do something different from my usual financial content and share more about my sabbatical that me and my wife took earlier this year in parts! It is still an experience that lives rent free in my head and the only regret I have till date was to not have gone longer..hence I wanted to take the opportunity to journal them my thoughts and feelings down while they are still somewhat fresh!

Our first stop was the Lofoten Islands which is within the Arctic circle. To get there, we flew to Oslo, then took a domestic flight to Bodø before taking a ferry to the islands.

Despite being somewhat well travelled, the scenery there is super spectacular and I would rank it as 1 of the top 3 most beautiful places that I have visited thus far. We were there during the summer and got to witness the midnight sun where the sun never sets!

Enjoy the photos and do let me know if you have any questions if you are planning a trip there too!

... Read moreWhen planning a trip to the Lofoten Islands, consider the travel options carefully. Flying into Oslo, then taking a domestic flight to Bodø, followed by a scenic ferry ride, offers a unique travel experience that adds to the adventure. For those seeking introvert escapes, the islands' tranquil environment and stunning natural beauty provide the perfect retreat away from busy city life. The rugged coastline of Norway, renowned for its dramatic fjords and picturesque landscapes, makes the Lofoten Islands a top destination for nature lovers and photographers alike. Don’t miss out on local culinary experiences too — places like Bunnpris & Gourmet in Svolvær offer delicious options to savor traditional Norwegian flavors. If you're intrigued by cultural and natural highlights, you might want to explore the famed Lofoten Wall and enjoy hiking or fishing excursions. The midnight sun phenomenon in summer allows you to enjoy extended daylight hours, offering a rare chance to immerse yourself fully in these pristine surroundings. For anyone planning a sabbatical or extended escape, I highly recommend the Lofoten Islands for a refreshing and soul-enriching journey. Feel free to reach out if you want tips on travel and transport or suggestions on must-visit spots in this enchanting part of the world.
