Family Fitness!
I am so excited! Not perfect by any means but at 5 weeks postpartum, it’s a start! #postpartum #ninja #ninjaintraining #mamastrong #kids #familytime #familyfitness #5weekspostpartum #challengeyourself
Starting a fitness journey just 5 weeks postpartum might sound daunting, but for me, it's been an incredible way to reconnect with my body and bond with my kids. When I first started, I wasn't aiming for perfection, just progress. Those first few weeks were all about listening to my body, focusing on gentle pelvic floor exercises, and slowly building back core strength. It's truly amazing to see how much can change in just a little over a month! My focus isn't just on my own recovery, but on making fitness a fun, natural part of our family life, allowing me to be a #mamastrong role model. One of the biggest joys has been seeing my boys' skills getting stronger and stronger right alongside me. We've been tackling kid-friendly obstacle courses in the yard, climbing at the park, and even doing some playful 'ninja training' at home. Their grip strength is powerful from all the hanging and climbing they do! It’s not just about physical strength; I love seeing their confidence grow with every new challenge they conquer. This isn't just 'mom and kid exercise'; it's about building a foundation for a healthy, active future together, fostering a love for movement early on. For anyone looking to improve fitness within their busy family life, my biggest advice is to start small and involve everyone. Simple activities like family walks, scooter rides, or even just dancing to music in the living room can make a huge difference. Instead of thinking of it as a chore, we try to integrate movement seamlessly into our day. For my 5-week postpartum workout, I focused heavily on gentle core activation and short walks, gradually increasing intensity. It's crucial to always consult with your doctor or a women's health physiotherapist before starting any new postpartum exercise routine to ensure it's safe for your body. We've found that turning fitness into a game makes it so much more engaging, especially for the kids. Whether it's a race to the swing set, a 'follow the leader' game during a hike, or seeing who can hold a modified plank the longest (with modifications for me, of course!), these 'challenges are getting easier and easier' for all of us. This approach helps us avoid the feeling of 'working out' and instead embrace joyful movement. It's less about structured gym sessions and more about weaving physical activity into our daily routines. This has been key to making fitness sustainable and enjoyable for our whole family. Remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint, especially when you're navigating the postpartum period. Celebrate every small victory – because every step, no matter how small, contributes to a stronger, healthier you and a more active, vibrant family life. Watching my sweet baby observe us as we grow stronger truly motivates me to keep going.
