Wellness habits that improved my gut health
When I started my gut healing journey, it was about 5 years ago.
I was dealing with chronic bloating, constipation, chronic yeast infections, etc.
There’s ALOT I did wrong for years, like skipping the foundations.
👉🏻Optimizing meal habits: chewing thoroughly, avoiding distractions while eating, eating sitting down, maintaining proper posture. & hydrating between meals- not with or near meals!!
👉🏻 optimizing circadian rhythm: to sum it up: we shouldn’t be exposed to artifical lights or blue lights when it’s dark out. So before sunrise; and after sunset put those blue blockers on. & the clear blue blockers are only 10-20% effective regardless if they are marketed that they block 99%- it doesn’t. The amber colored lens are the best ones. Get outside as often as you can. Expose your eyes to morning sunlight upon waking or use a red light therapy box or happy light. Do not look at your screens 30 minutes within waking.
👉🏻 “healthy eating” and nutrient dense eating are different things. Low calorie, high protein, doesn’t equal healthy. Nutrient dense is eating plenty of high quality MEAT, fish, root vegetables (potatoes, sweet potatoes, beets, parsnips, carrots), veggies & fruits. & avoiding hard to digest foods when you are working on your gut health like raw veggies (sorry those big salads aren’t helping. Cook your veggies), nuts and seeds (can consume small portions but make sure they are organic, and soaked) & small portions of grains that are properly prepared (soaked & sprouted) you can purchase grains already sprouted at health food stores.
👉🏻 Eat enough. To keep it simple, our body needs the energy to heal the gut lining, for production of stomach acid & enzymes, motility, etc. its needs energy for proper digestion. So we need to be eating enough food.
👉🏻 Regulate your nervous system: now this is the one I waited to do last and was the missing part. Don’t make my mistake. You will not heal if your nervous system is constantly in a survival state (which can happen from past emotions, trauma, stress, etc). Gotta do the work.

Improving gut health involves a holistic approach that combines nutrition, lifestyle changes, and self-awareness. Here are crucial tips: 1. **Meal Hygiene**: Make meal times sacred. Chew your food thoroughly to aid digestion and avoid distractions. Eating while sitting improves digestion. 2. **Circadian Rhythm**: Align your eating patterns with natural light. After dark, reduce exposure to blue light and consider using blue-blocking glasses to protect your vision. Embrace morning sunlight to help regulate your body's internal clock. 3. **Nutrient-Dense Foods**: Shift focus from calorie counting to nutrient availability. Incorporate high-quality proteins like meat and fish paired with root vegetables, and consume cooked rather than raw vegetables to ease the digestive process. 4. **Regular Eating**: Eat balanced meals every 3-4 hours. Ensure your body has enough energy for digestion and repair. 5. **Nervous System Regulation**: Practice stress-reduction techniques to get your body out of survival mode. Engage in gentle movements like walking, yoga, or mindfulness to foster a peaceful gut environment. Implementing these strategies can lead to lasting improvements in gut health, aiding not just digestion but overall well-being. Remember, consistency is key.
