Robert (review)

Title: Robert

Rating :⭐️Overall rating: 5/10

Director : Andrew Jones

Genre: Horror/Drama

Year of release: 2015

Where to watch: Tubi.

Synopsis: A family's life unravels after their son, Gene, is given a vintage doll named Robert by a vengeful former housekeeper, Agatha, leading to mysterious and violent incidents.

Final thoughts based on a true story from 1904 I do like the premise and pacing of this one the fact that the doll itself is unsettling helps as well. However I feel that they could have done a lot more with this I would have loved to see the doll used a bit more but otherwise a decent movie. There are 2 other Robert movies that I’m aware of let me know in the comments if you would like a part 2 with the second installment of this series. #horror #movies #review #followformore

4/14 Edited to

... Read moreWatching "Robert" offers a unique glimpse into horror movies based on real-life legends, which often add an extra layer of suspense and fear. The concept of a doll being possessed or cursed has been a staple in the horror genre, and "Robert" leverages this by drawing from actual events tied to the infamous Robert the Doll. One aspect that truly enhances the chilling nature of the film is how the vintage doll itself is portrayed—its unsettling presence feels authentic and quite haunting. This makes the supernatural elements more believable and engaging. However, in my personal experience, while the film’s pacing keeps you intrigued, I felt it missed opportunities to delve deeper into the doll’s ominous presence and backstory, which could have elevated the scare factor. For those interested in horror movies rooted in true stories, "Robert" is a decent watch but somewhat falls short of reaching its full potential. I also discovered that there are two other films continuing the storyline, which might address some of the original’s limitations and offer more intense scenes featuring the doll. If you’re a fan of horror movies with supernatural and historical elements, watching the sequels could be rewarding. Streaming "Robert" on Tubi makes it accessible, providing a great option for horror enthusiasts looking for something a bit different from mainstream horror flicks. When watching, pay attention to the film’s atmosphere—it’s subtle but contributes significantly to the overall eerie feeling. If you enjoy horror reviews and discussions, engaging with fellow viewers in forums or comment sections can enhance the experience by sharing different interpretations and theories about the doll’s origins and cursed nature. This communal aspect often enriches the viewing experience and opens up new perspectives on the folklore behind the film.
