Trauma is a TERRIBLE excuse for hurting others

1/3 Edited to

... Read moreLiving through trauma can profoundly affect how people behave, but it's crucial to understand the difference between explaining behavior and justifying harm. In my experience supporting friends and family through difficult times, I’ve seen that acknowledging past pain doesn't mean tolerating harmful actions. Trauma may influence reactions, but the impact on others still matters deeply. When someone says, "I didn't mean to hurt you," it’s important to recognize that intention doesn’t eliminate emotional damage. Holding space for compassion means recognizing the pain behind actions while also setting boundaries to protect yourself. Accountability isn't about punishment; it’s about growth and healing. By encouraging those who have been hurtful to take responsibility, we help them move toward healthier patterns rather than enabling ongoing damage. Incorporating practices like soul therapy, inner work, and trauma healing can facilitate this balance. These approaches encourage self-reflection and empathy without sacrificing the well-being of others. Through my journey, I’ve learned that compassion and accountability are not mutually exclusive—they are partners in creating respectful and supportive relationships. Understanding this balance can transform how we navigate trauma and interpersonal conflict.
