Homemade mozzarella cheese 🍕
I cannot believe how easy homemade cheese is.
All you need is a gallon of milk and 1 cup of vinegar.
Start by heating your milk slowly to 120 degrees F. Once it reaches 120 turn the heat off and add your vinegar. Slowly stir for 30-60 seconds or until the curds and whey have separated. Then place a lid on your pot for 15 minutes. Next separate your cheese from the whey and form into a ball. Do some stretch and folds and add about a tbs of salt to your cheese. Next add to an ice bath for about 15 minutes. Enjoy! It is so soft and yummy. I was able to make this pizza with a box of jiffy dough mix and some sauce. So good! ❤️ #pizzaideas #cheeseideas #sahmlife
Making homemade mozzarella cheese is not only easy, but it also elevates your cooking skills. The key ingredients—milk and vinegar—can be found in most kitchens, making this a practical treat. Start by selecting the best quality whole milk you can find; organic or farm-fresh is preferred for optimal flavor and texture. Heating the milk slowly helps maintain its integrity and ensures even curd formation when you add vinegar. After the curds form, the time spent resting allows for better separation from the whey, crucial for the texture. Once you’ve completed the process, experimenting with stretching the cheese adds a delightful twist; this elasticity is what makes mozzarella unique and a favorite on pizzas. Don't forget to season your cheese to taste, as this can make a significant difference in flavor! You can enjoy it immediately or store it in your refrigerator for later use. Pairing your homemade cheese with marinara sauce and fresh basil on a pizza will impress family and friends alike. With a bit of practice, you’ll be crafting mozzarella like a professional cheesemaker! Try adding herbs or spices to create unique flavor variations. Whether for personal enjoyment or impressing guests, this easy mozzarella recipe is sure to please.
