I was nervous this wasn’t going to come out right but My stylist is th best @Denisha G. 💕 we have been working on growing my hair this year and this is all apart of the process! So proud of myself and my hair 😬✨
Okay, so I just had to share more about my latest hair journey! When I first sat down with my amazing stylist, Denisha G., for this flat twist process, I was seriously nervous. You know how it is with naturally fine hair – sometimes styles just don't hold, or they end up looking a bit... flat. My biggest fear was that my twist out wouldn't have any definition, or worse, that it would just unravel. But Denisha truly worked her magic, and seeing my raw reaction to the final twist out was priceless! We've been on a mission this year to focus on growing my hair, and incorporating protective styles like flat twists has been a game-changer. For anyone with fine hair like mine, it's so important to minimize manipulation. Flat twists are fantastic because they keep your strands tucked away, reducing breakage and helping to retain length. Plus, when you unravel them, you get this incredible volume and texture that fine hair often craves. One thing I've learned on this journey is that product choice is everything, especially for delicate strands. We focused on lightweight mousses and setting lotions that provide hold without weighing down my hair or making it feel greasy. Using too much heavy cream can actually stretch out fine hair, making it prone to breakage when twisting. Denisha also taught me the importance of twisting on damp, not soaking wet, hair to ensure proper drying and minimal frizz. When it came time for the big reveal – the twist out – I was holding my breath! My raw reaction was pure joy. The definition was beyond what I expected, and my hair felt so soft and looked so full. It’s such a confidence booster to see your hair thriving, especially after putting in the effort. This is definitely a style I'll be doing more often, and it's proof that with the right stylist and a bit of patience, even fine hair can achieve amazing results with a twist out. For anyone considering a flat twist or twist out on fine hair, here are a few tips I’ve picked up: Find a skilled stylist: Seriously, it makes all the difference. Someone who understands your hair type is invaluable. Products matter: Opt for lightweight, moisturizing products designed for twist-outs or natural hair. Avoid heavy butters if your hair is fine. Patience is key: Let your twists dry completely before unraveling for the best definition and to avoid frizz. This might mean sleeping on them overnight! Gentle unraveling: Use a little oil on your fingertips to gently separate the twists. This minimizes frizz and helps individual strands clump beautifully. Protect at night: Sleep with a satin bonnet or pillowcase to preserve your twist out and reduce friction. I'm just so proud of how far my hair has come, and this twist out is a huge milestone in my growth journey. If you're hesitant about trying new protective styles with fine hair, I hope my experience gives you the courage to go for it!
