... Read moreWow, jumping into 'A Court of Thorns and Roses' by Sarah J. Maas has been quite the journey already! Like many of you, I totally caved to the unstoppable force that is BookTok. It feels like overnight, everyone's either raving about this series or giving very strong opinions on it. I’ve seen countless videos showcasing favorite quotes, character edits, and even people crying over plot twists, and I just had to see what the hype was all about. Is it going to be worth all the emotional investment? Only time will tell, but I'm definitely in deep now!
One thing I've realized is that diving into a highly-hyped series like this comes with its own set of challenges. On one hand, there's a massive, passionate community ready to discuss every single detail, which is fantastic for a new reader like me. On the other hand, the sheer volume of opinions can be a bit overwhelming, and it's hard to go in without some preconceived notions. My advice to anyone else starting out is to try and go in with an open mind, and don't let every single spoiler or strong take ruin your own experience. It's your journey through Prythian, after all! Sometimes, the first book of a long series can feel a bit slow as it builds the world, but trust the process – that's what I keep telling myself!
Speaking of immersive worlds, I couldn't help but notice the 'Mox Lotus' card in the image next to my ACOTAR book. For those unfamiliar, that's a seriously iconic card from 'Magic: The Gathering' – another realm where intricate lore, powerful 'artifact with mana abilities,' and stunning 'creature design' are king! It's funny how often my love for fantasy spills over between different mediums, whether it's epic novels or strategy card games. There's just something about getting lost in a richly imagined universe, full of magic, intricate relationships, and high stakes. Whether you're navigating the complexities of Faerie courts or battling with powerful spells and creatures, the escape is truly therapeutic. It's almost like the same part of my brain that appreciates the detailed world-building and character arcs in a book like 'A Court of Thorns and Roses' also lights up when I'm strategizing with a carefully crafted Magic deck, hoping to draw that game-winning 'Mox Lotus.' Both offer a fantastic way to engage with creativity and storytelling.
For anyone who's already deep into the ACOTAR series, what's one thing you wish you knew before you started? Or for those who, like me, are just beginning, what's been your biggest surprise so far? I’m genuinely curious to hear if others had that 'regrets?' moment in the beginning, or if it was instant love. I'm trying to pace myself, but the world Sarah J. Maas has crafted is already pulling me in, and I'm eager to see where it goes. Don't be afraid to take breaks between books if you need to, or even reread favorite chapters – that's something I've heard veteran readers recommend. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the next few books live up to the massive build-up and deliver all the magic, romance, and adventure I've been promised!
it takes a little pushing to get through the first half of the book but then it picks up and is just amazing! i flew through the last half and the second book and am now on the third!!
i hope you enjoy it!
