this ramen just hits different 🍜

📍woke ramen (compass one, changi airport terminal 1)

they serve up a variety of wok-hei ramen made with Japanese ramen broth and Chinese lamian noodles 🍜

two kinds of broth — a flavourful and creamy chicken collagen broth that has been simmered for over eight hours or the rich prawn broth made by boiling prawn heads with chicken broth (full of umami) 🤩

currently, they also have a special tom yum broth with purple sweet potato noodles as part of their sakura season series 🌸✨

if you’re not feeling ramen-y they do serve donburi and udon (charred dry udon & chicken chashu collagen udon) as well! 😋

best part about this restaurant is that it has free flow hard boiled eggs (in this economy?!!)

... Read moreVisiting Woke Ramen at Compass One has been one of my recent favorite food finds, especially when craving something beyond the usual ramen spots. What stands out most is their ingenious blend of Japanese and Chinese culinary traditions, marrying Japanese ramen broth simmered patiently for hours with the distinctive chew of Chinese lamian noodles. This combination creates a texture and flavor experience quite different from typical ramen. Their chicken collagen broth is incredibly rich and creamy, thanks to the extensive eight-hour simmering process. It delivers a depth of flavor that feels both hearty and comforting, making every mouthful a delight. On the other hand, the prawn broth is an umami bomb, crafted by boiling prawn heads with chicken broth—this definitely elevates the seafood nuance and adds a satisfying savoriness. For those looking to try something seasonal and vibrant, their tom yum broth paired with purple sweet potato noodles is a must-try. The sour-spicy profile of tom yum broth mixed with the subtle sweetness and striking color of the noodles is both a feast for the palate and the eyes, perfect for the sakura-themed season. Aside from ramen, they offer equally tempting options such as donburi and udon. The charred dry udon paired with chicken chashu collagen broth strikes a nice balance between smoky and rich flavors, ideal for those who want noodle variety. One of Woke Ramen’s unexpected but most cherished perks is the free-flow hard boiled eggs. In today’s dining economy, this generous offering adds great value and makes the meal feel even more satisfying. Plus, the inclusion of dishes like chicken karaage and yakitori on the side, as suggested by some of the menu highlights, broadens the experience for those hungry for diverse Japanese eats. Overall, the atmosphere at Woke Ramen feels cozy yet lively, making it a great stop during your travels or a casual meet-up spot. If you’re at Changi Airport Terminal 1 or nearby Compass One, it’s worth carving out time to indulge in these unique ramen creations that genuinely hit different.
