I didn’t think she’d…
notice the downgrade 🤣
As a new mom, I quickly realized that feeding my baby was an entirely different experience than what I imagined from my own cravings during pregnancy. It’s funny thinking back to all the junk food I enjoyed — burgers, pizza, and pasta — and how my little one now exclusively depends on milk. This abrupt downgrade in diet really highlights how babies' nutritional needs change dramatically after birth. During pregnancy, many moms experience cravings that reflect their body's need for energy and nutrients, but newborns have a much more delicate digestive system. Breast milk or formula provides the perfect balance of nutrients, antibodies, and hydration to support their rapid growth and development. This shift from solid, flavorful foods to a liquid-only diet might seem surprising but is essential for newborn health. I also found it amusing how this diet change felt like a 'step back' from all the delicious food I’d been enjoying. It's a reminder of the sacrifices and adjustments involved in motherhood! Breastfeeding comes with its own set of challenges and rewards, and for many moms, it’s a bonding experience that far outweighs the ‘downgrade’ in food options. Sharing experiences with other moms through hashtags like #Momlife and #Newbornmom has been comforting. Many moms relate to the unexpected twists of feeding and growing a newborn and find humor in the everyday struggles. If you’re navigating this new phase, know that the transition from craving pizza to only milk is a common, natural part of your baby’s journey — and your own.
