products i use to prevent razor bumps ๐ฟ
three basic things you should be doing to reduce and eventually prevent the formation of razor bumps before/after shaving include: exfoliating, protecting, and soothing ๐งผ
after body wash, i like to go in and exfoliate the areas i plan to shave with doveโs exfoliating body polish ๐บ this helps to remove dead skin cells not done previously and help get a closer shave to the hair follicle, eventually keeping a smooth area for longer. this also generally helps soften the skin and revitalize the skin while leaving a fresh scent, respective to what ingredient is in your choice of exfoliator ๐ซง i know they have other scents available to try other than the pomegranate one!
after exfoliating, i go in with skintimateโs shave gel over the hairy areas and let it lather into a creamy foam texture โ๏ธ this allows for a barrier between the skin and razor which will help prevent irritation and allow an easy glide for the shave. this shave gel is also unique in that it adds extra moisture and softness after shaving ๐ฆ a little goes a long way with this product, as using a quarter sized amount covers both my underarms (for reference).
finally, i use topicalโs high roller ingrown tonic and roll it over the areas i shaved. i make sure to let this product dry to ensure the ingredients work well on my skin ๐งด this tonic allows gentle exfoliation to prevent awkward growths as well as soothe the skin and tackle any discoloration. this is more on the pricier side, but iโve has his product for almost a year and only use it twice a weekโ it still has a good amount of product left, so it lasts a long time for what youโre paying for!
