Proverbs 22-26 Bible study 🌸

Today I studied proverbs 22-26. I recommend you read the Bible on your own time & gain understanding/discernment.

Here’s what I learned:

• money means nothing if you don’t have favor from God. Rich or poor we are all the same.

• teach/grow your child in Gods ways

• mocker= someone who avoids wisdom on purpose

• a young person is very foolish/naive. But as parents we need to discipline them

• choose your friends wisely because that’s what you’ll become.

• don’t borrow money if you can’t pay it back

• it is better to live for God than in the world. At the end living for Him will be worth it. Do not envy sinners

• don’t a drunk. You don’t know what you do. You hurt yourself and don’t even know. It only brings depression, sadness, hurt & bruises. Brings destruction and embarrassment

• don’t wish to be like the evil doers. Don’t be with them.

• a correction to an ear that hears is like gold/an ornament on us

• if your enemy is in need, give them what they need. The Lord will reward/bless you.

• if someone is foolish to you, do not answer them the same way. If you do they will think they are wise/experienced in their own eyes.

• the fool is like a dog, a dog that returns to eat its own vomit. The fool keeps doing the same things over and over again

• evil will be seen, sooner or later it will be revealed if someone is being deceitful

• careful when you say “ I was just joking” you can cause quarrels/fights.

• if there is no gossiper there is no conflict

... Read moreDiving into Proverbs 22-26 has been such an enriching experience, and I love how these ancient words still speak so powerfully to our lives today. When I settle down with my open Bible, making handwritten notes and highlights, I find that the wisdom just jumps off the page, offering practical guidance for so many situations. One of the biggest lessons for me from these chapters, especially Proverbs 22:1-2, is about the true value of wealth. It's so easy to chase after money, but the Bible reminds us that a good name and favor from God are far more precious than gold. It really makes you think about what you're truly building your life on. It's not about being rich or poor; it's about integrity and aligning with God's will. And on a related note, Proverbs 22:7 about debt really hit home – it's a reminder to be responsible with our finances and avoid situations that can make us servants to others. For me, this means careful planning and prayer before making big financial decisions. Then there's the timeless advice on raising children (Proverbs 22:6). 'Train up a child in the way he should go,' isn't just about rules, but about instilling a foundation of faith and wisdom through our actions and consistent discipline. This extends to how we approach young people who might be foolish or naive, knowing that gentle guidance and firm boundaries are key. On the flip side, we're warned against mockers – those who deliberately avoid wisdom. It’s a call to actively pursue wisdom ourselves and to help others find that path, rather than enabling foolishness. The chapters also emphasize the incredible power of our relationships, highlighting the importance of choosing friends wisely (Proverbs 22:24-25). Who we spend our time with truly shapes who we become. I've personally experienced how positive friendships can uplift you, while negative ones can subtly pull you away from your convictions. It's a gentle reminder not to envy sinners or associate with evil-doers, as their paths lead to destruction. And let's talk about the practical wisdom for daily living. Proverbs 23:29-35 paints a vivid, sobering picture of the dangers of drunkenness, detailing the pain and regret it brings. It’s a stark warning to avoid anything that clouds our judgment and leads to self-harm or embarrassment. But then, there's the profound teaching of Proverbs 25:21-22 – to feed our enemy if they are hungry. This radical act of kindness transforms the situation and often brings blessings from the Lord. It teaches us to rise above retaliation and embrace a higher standard of love. Finally, the insights on how to respond to a fool (Proverbs 26:4-5) are incredibly useful. Sometimes, answering a fool in their foolishness just lowers you to their level, but other times, a direct answer is needed to prevent them from feeling wise in their own eyes. It takes discernment! And the dangers of gossip, as seen in Proverbs 26:20, are so clear – without a gossiper, conflict often dies. It's a reminder for me to be mindful of my words and avoid spreading rumors. As I reflect on these sections, I encourage you to open your own Bible to Proverbs 22-26. What parts do you find yourself highlighting? What new insights do you gain? Perhaps, like me, you'll find yourself asking: 'How can I apply this wisdom to my life today?' or 'What does this passage reveal about God's character?' The themes here – from wisdom and justice to wealth and relationships – echo throughout the entire book of Proverbs, even in earlier chapters like Proverbs 11, constantly calling us to live a life of righteousness and understanding. There’s always more to learn when you dig into God’s word!

This graphic explains Proverbs 9, contrasting Wisdom's invitation to life and correction with Folly's seductive call to secret sin. It highlights key themes like the fear of the Lord, handling correction, and choosing between Wisdom's table (truth, growth) and Folly's (impulse, secrecy), concluding with a prayer for wisdom.
Bible Study: Proverbs 9
