Only those who have been to college can understand

3/19 Edited to

... Read moreCollege life is a unique journey that shapes individuals in profound ways beyond just academic learning. From my personal experience, the phrase "Only those who have been to college can understand" rings true in multiple aspects, ranging from late-night study sessions and group projects to navigating campus culture and forming lifelong friendships. One aspect many college students face is managing time between classes, part-time jobs, and social activities. This juggling act teaches important life skills like prioritization and resilience that only those who have experienced it firsthand can truly appreciate. The cognitive challenges sometimes feel like solving puzzles, such as the quirky reminder from a classroom whiteboard I once saw: "3 equals 11 1 1"—a cryptic note that represents how college often challenges your thinking in unexpected ways, pushing you beyond simple answers and encouraging creative problem-solving. Socially, college offers a microcosm of the world, exposing students to diverse perspectives and backgrounds. The experience of meeting people with different viewpoints can be enlightening and sometimes challenging, fostering empathy and cultural awareness. Furthermore, the stress of exams, assignments, and balancing personal life can be intense. However, those hurdles build resilience and prepare students for future challenges in their careers and personal lives. Lastly, the memories formed during these years—the late-night discussions, campus events, and shared struggles—create bonds that often last a lifetime. It’s these intangible experiences that make college truly unforgettable and something only those who have lived it can fully understand.
