Day 9 of My Daniel Fast

Hello, Everyone !!

Today marks day 9 of my Daniel fast, and I just wanted to take a moment to thank each of you for your incredible support and encouragement throughout this journey. It has truly meant so much to me!

Yesterday was one of the most challenging days yet, but I am so grateful to say that God glorified Himself in a mighty way. Through the struggles, I felt His presence and strength lifting me up.

This fast has been such a humbling and rewarding experience, drawing me closer to Him with each passing day. I am reminded of His faithfulness and the importance of leaning on Him, especially when the journey gets tough.

I also wanted to share this lovely veggie platter that has been a blessing in keeping me focused on clean and wholesome foods during this fast. It’s been a reminder that even in simplicity, God provides abundance.

Thank you again for all your love and prayers. Let’s keep pushing forward, trusting in God’s plans and timing!

But just like Joy shared about her challenging Day 9, having a clear understanding of what I could and couldn't eat made all the difference in staying on track and truly focusing on the spiritual aspect. So, if you're wondering about the 'daniel fast rules,' let me break down what I've learned from my own experience. At its core, the Daniel Fast is a partial fast rooted in the biblical account of Daniel. It's not just about abstaining from certain foods, but about dedicating time to prayer, reflection, and drawing closer to God. The general rule of thumb is to eat foods that come purely from the earth, avoiding processed items and animal products. What You CAN Eat (and what saved me on tough days!): Fruits: Fresh, frozen, dried (without added sugar), or canned (in water/juice). Think apples, berries, bananas, oranges, grapes – all the good stuff! Vegetables: All vegetables are fair game! Fresh, frozen, or canned (without added salt or sauces). This is where the magic happens! My 'vibrant veggie platter' with 'cauliflower, celery, baby carrots, broccoli, and cherry tomatoes' became my go-to for healthy snacks and even main meals. It's amazing how satisfying a simple 'Salad bowl' can be when you get creative. Whole Grains: Brown rice, oats, quinoa, millet, whole wheat pasta (check ingredients!), whole grain bread (unleavened, no yeast or sugar). Legumes: Beans (black, pinto, kidney), lentils, chickpeas. Great for protein and fiber! Nuts & Seeds: Raw, unsalted almonds, walnuts, pecans, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds. Nut butters too, as long as they're just nuts! Healthy Oils: Olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil (in moderation). Water: This is your primary beverage! Lots and lots of water. Herbal teas are usually okay too. What You Should AVOID (these are the big ones!): Meat & Animal Products: No meat, poultry, fish, dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt), or eggs. Sugar & Sweeteners: All forms of added sugar – cane sugar, honey, maple syrup, artificial sweeteners. Read labels carefully; sugar hides everywhere! Leavened Bread: No yeast-risen breads. Think flatbreads or whole grain crackers without yeast. Caffeine & Alcohol: This was a tough one for me, but so worth it for the mental clarity. Processed Foods & Artificial Additives: If it comes in a package with a long ingredient list, it's likely a no-go. Deep-Fried Foods: Opt for baked or raw options instead. My Personal Tips for Sticking to the Rules: Meal Prep is King: Seriously, having pre-chopped veggies like those on my featured 'veggie platter' (hello, 'Healthy MEALS' made easy!) made snacking and meal assembly so much simpler. I even experimented with a plant-based 'creamy dip' recipe to go with them. Read Every Label: It's surprising how many unassuming items contain hidden sugars or forbidden ingredients. Stay Hydrated: Water fills you up and helps with detox symptoms. Find Your Support: Just like Joy mentioned, having people to encourage you makes a huge difference. Share your journey! Remember Your 'Why': When cravings hit or you feel challenged, go back to your spiritual purpose. This fast isn't just about food; it's about building a deeper connection. Following these 'daniel fast rules' isn't always easy, but the spiritual benefits and the feeling of nourishing your body with wholesome foods are incredibly rewarding. If I can navigate these rules and find strength on tough days, so can you!
