Ik, Lahun, Ben

As the gears in the cosmic calendar turn and churn the fabric of time and space, we move into the Ik Day sign. As the universe’s mechanism causes our Sun 🌞 to rise, we transition into Lahun, the 10th day and night of this Ben Trecena (13-day cycle).

In Maya cosmology, Ik is the wind, the sacred breath of life that animates creation. It represents communication, inspiration, and the unseen forces that move through and around us. Ik stirs the invisible currents that carry thoughts, words, and dreams into form. It reminds us that words are not just sounds, but vessels of power and intention.

Ik invites us to listen as much as we speak, to receive as much as we transmit. It governs breath, spirit, and the power of the spoken and unspoken. This day calls us to tune in—whether to nature, to our inner knowing, or to the divine whispers riding the wind.

Ik is associated with the North and the color white. Today’s nahuales are the Bobcat, Weasel, and Hummingbird. The Bobcat offers patience and stealth, the Weasel lends strategy and cleverness, and the Hummingbird brings joy and swift messages from the spirit world. Together, they encourage mindful expression and reverent listening.

Lahun The Number Ten

Lahun (10) represents community, manifestation, and the reaching of collective goals. It is the number of people coming together to create, support, and transform. Ten grounds the ethereal into the material through unity and shared purpose.

In Maya numerology, Lahun is a point of culmination—a time when what has been set in motion begins to bear fruit. It asks us to consider how our personal energy contributes to the greater whole. Those born under this tone often find strength in working with or uplifting others.

Guardian of the 10th Day

The deity associated with Lahun is Tezcatlipoca, the Lord of the Smoking Mirror. He is the force of self-reflection and deep truth, often revealing what lies hidden beneath appearances. Tezcatlipoca challenges us to confront illusions and unmask the ego, so we may live with greater integrity.

As he watches over this day in the Ben trecena, his energy merges with Ik to reveal the power of honest words and aligned intentions. He urges us not to manipulate truth but to speak it with clarity, and to listen not only to others, but to the reflections that echo from within.

The cosmic date is Lahun (10), the day sign is Ik, within the Ben trecena. In Gregorian terms, this corresponds to July 8, 2025.

Again I ask: What would the OG Daykeepers advise today as the energies of the Ben trecena intertwine with the breath of Ik and the manifesting power of Lahun?

Today’s convergence invites us to reflect on the clarity of our communication. Are we using our voice to uplift or to control? Are we speaking truth or speaking from fear? Is there something important we've left unsaid that needs gentle expression?

If your thoughts feel scattered, take a moment to breathe. If your words feel heavy, ask why. The Bobcat helps you move with quiet power. The Weasel guides you to navigate subtle spaces. The Hummingbird reminds you that joy can be a message in itself. Tezcatlipoca hands you the mirror.

Speak with care. Listen with depth. Breathe with purpose. The winds are listening.

The Tzolk’in does not waste words. Let yours be true.

Reflection of the Day

The winds of change are howling through the world today, and their message is clear, truth cannot be silenced, and love cannot be suppressed. On this day of Ik, sacred wind, and Lahun, the community tone of manifestation, under the watchful gaze of Ben, the staff of guidance and lineage, we are called to examine how collective breath is moving through the body of humanity.

From coast to coast, we see fear tactics failing. Militarized displays meant to intimidate instead expose the desperation of crumbling systems. In Los Angeles, soldiers in camouflage wander the streets like forgotten relics of a broken narrative, met not with violence but with indifference, with truth, with unity. They came expecting chaos, and instead, they witnessed resilience. The wind did not scatter the people, it gathered them.

These soldiers walking the streets in camouflage don’t inspire fear. If anything, they look like they’ve been dropped into the wrong scene. No one’s buying it. They move like automatons, stiff and out of place, like dancing monkeys trying to play warrior. And why dancing monkeys? Because they have no backbone. No heart in what they’re doing. Just orders. Just performance. It’s comical, but also sad, a projection of someone else’s fear made loud. What was meant to intimidate is doing the opposite. It shows how disconnected they are, how desperate. And everyone can see it. They don’t represent strength, they represent a system that’s unraveling, one step behind a world that’s already waking up.

Social media is alive with voices of solidarity, Black, Asian, Indigenous, Latino, white, choosing one another over division. The spell of separation is weakening. The more fear is broadcast, the more people see it's a projection. The more hate is spewed, the more people speak in love. Ik reminds us today that spirit rides on breath, and breath is shared by all beings. Lahun asks us to see how the individual breath becomes a collective prayer. And Ben gives us the staff, the moral backbone, to stand tall and walk forward together.

We are not fooled. We are not baited. We are not broken. Even our veterans, those who know the cost of war firsthand, are rising to speak out. Over two million are preparing to march in Washington, not in hatred, but in conviction.

So what are we to do with this wind? Breathe deeply. Speak clearly. Pray loudly. Refuse to whisper the truth. Let your breath be a force for peace. Let your voice be rooted in love. Let your presence be a shelter for the weary. Because this wind is sacred, and this wind is ours.

Love always wins.

... Read moreThe Ik day sign and Lahun ten tone together form a significant spiritual convergence in the Maya calendar, emphasizing breath, communication, community, and self-reflection. Ik, representing wind, embodies the sacred breath that carries thoughts, words, and inspiration, highlighting the importance of mindful speaking and listening as vital forces animating life and shaping reality. This day encourages individuals to connect deeply with inner wisdom and the unseen spiritual currents that influence all creation. Lahun, the number ten, symbolizes collective manifestation and unity, acting as a grounding point where ethereal intentions crystallize into material outcomes through cooperative effort. Those influenced by Lahun often find strength and purpose in uplifting communities and participating in shared growth and support. This notion aligns closely with the Maya view of time as cyclical and relational, where personal actions impact the collective whole. Central to the Lahun day is the guardianship of Tezcatlipoca, the Lord of the Smoking Mirror, who represents profound truth, self-reflection, and the unveiling of illusions. His presence during the Ik-Lahun convergence serves as a spiritual reminder to live authentically with aligned intentions, to speak truth clearly without manipulation, and to listen deeply to both external voices and inner reflections. This guidance fosters integrity and encourages releasing egoic distortions that prevent genuine connection. The Nahuales—Bobcat, Weasel, and Hummingbird—symbolize qualities essential for navigating this day’s energies. The Bobcat imparts stealth and patience, encouraging quiet yet purposeful movement; the Weasel teaches cleverness and strategic awareness to adapt thoughtfully; and the Hummingbird brings joy and swift communication from the spiritual realm, uplifting messages that inspire positive transformation. Modern reflections echo the ancient teachings, as collective breath—representing unified human spirit and action—rises against fear and division. Recent social movements demonstrate how solidarity and peace emerge from shared understanding and mutual respect, echoing the call of Ik and Lahun to speak with clarity and embody love. This dynamic affirms that authentic communication and collective unity are powerful forces for societal healing and transformation. In essence, the Ik day and Lahun tone invite us to use our breath and voice as sacred tools for peace, expressing truth rooted in love and standing firm with moral courage (embodied in Ben, the staff of lineage and guidance). These cosmic energies remind us that through mindful expression, deep listening, and collaborative spirit, we align with universal rhythms and contribute meaningfully to the evolution of humanity and Earth’s energetic balance.
