Okay, so you're ready to dive into making this incredible hibachi-style steak and shrimp fried rice at home? Trust me, once you try this recipe, you'll wonder why you ever ordered takeout! It's truly a game-changer for weeknight dinners when you're craving something flavorful and satisfying, but don't have a lot of time. Here’s my go-to recipe to make that mouth-watering Steak & Shrimp Fried Rice Better Than Takeout! Ingredients You'll Need: For the Steak: 8 oz sirloin or ribeye steak, cut into 1-inch cubes 1 tbsp soy sauce 1 tsp sesame oil 1 tsp cornstarch Pinch of black pepper For the Shrimp: 8 oz large shrimp, peeled and deveined 1 tbsp unsalted butter 2 cloves garlic, minced For the Fried Rice: 3 cups day-old cooked white rice (super important for texture!) 2 large eggs, lightly beaten 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, corn – or just finely diced carrots) 3 green onions, chopped (reserve some for garnish) 2 tbsp soy sauce (adjust to taste) 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, but adds great depth) 1 tsp sesame oil 1/2 tsp white pepper 2-3 tbsp vegetable oil or canola oil for cooking Let's Get Cooking! (My Step-by-Step Guide): Prep the Steak: In a bowl, toss the steak cubes with 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sesame oil, cornstarch, and black pepper. Let it marinate for at least 5 minutes while you prep other ingredients. Cook the Steak: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add the seasoned steak in a single layer and sear for 2-3 minutes per side until beautifully browned and cooked to your liking. Don't overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside. Cook the Shrimp: In the same pan (no need to clean!), melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside with the steak. Scramble the Eggs: Add another teaspoon of oil to the pan if needed. Pour in the beaten eggs and quickly scramble them until just set. Break them into small pieces. Remove the eggs from the pan and set aside. Start the Rice: Add 1-2 tablespoons of vegetable oil to the hot pan. Add the frozen mixed vegetables (or diced carrots) and sauté for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender. Now, here's where the magic happens: add your day-old cold rice. Break up any clumps with your spatula and spread it out. Let it sit undisturbed for a minute or two to get some crispy bits, then stir. Season and Combine: Pour in the 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp oyster sauce (if using), and 1 tsp sesame oil over the rice. Add the white pepper. Stir everything together vigorously, ensuring the rice is evenly coated and heated through. I love how the aromas fill my kitchen at this point! Bring it All Together: Return the cooked steak, shrimp, and scrambled eggs to the pan with the rice. Add most of the chopped green onions (save a little for garnish). Toss everything together for another 1-2 minutes until thoroughly combined and heated through. Serve: Transfer your homemade hibachi fried rice to bowls. Garnish with the remaining green onions. Sometimes I add a drizzle of sriracha for a little kick, but it's perfect as is. Enjoy your amazing, quick, and satisfying dinner!
