While the article touches on teas and infusions, let's dive a little deeper into the 'how-to' so you can confidently make your own. Getting Started with Hot Water Infusions (Teas): The Right Ratio: A good general rule of thumb for dried herbs is about 1 teaspoon of dried herb per 8 ounces (1 cup) of hot water. If you're using fresh herbs, you'll need a bit more โ€“ typically 2-3 teaspoons per cup โ€“ as they contain more water. For stronger infusions, like those you might use for medicinal purposes, you can increase the herb amount to a tablespoon per cup. Water Temperature Matters: For most delicate leaves and flowers (like our friend Chamomile, perfect for calming!), just-boiled water that's slightly cooled for a minute or two is ideal. Pouring boiling water directly can sometimes 'shock' the herbs and degrade some of their beneficial compounds.
