move to china with me!! 🇨🇳

sooo I hope this clears things up ❣️not going to lie I spent a lot of my childhood feeling connected and disconnected with both china and Canada (& very confused about where I truly felt like I belonged). As I get older my desire to connect with my roots from china grow stronger and stronger and that is probably why this new home base really feels so special 🥹 I really love it here and I really love my life in Canada so I’ll try to have the best of both worlds with spending longer periods of time in china from now on 🤞🏻#china #moving #housetour

... Read moreMoving between two countries like China and Canada is more than just a physical relocation; it's an emotional journey of identity and belonging. From personal experience, it can feel overwhelming at times—especially when loved ones, like friends and partners, remain halfway around the world. Living in different cultures means adapting to contrasting lifestyles, language, and social norms, which can be both exciting and challenging. One important aspect I've learned is the significance of creating a home that reflects both my Canadian upbringing and Chinese heritage. Renovating and personalizing a space in China has been incredibly rewarding because it allows me to feel grounded in a place that once felt unfamiliar. Spending extended periods there helps deepen my connection with my roots, while also reminding me of the values and comforts I cherish from Canada. It's also essential to build local friendships and community wherever you are. Although my closest friends and family are scattered between countries, technology has bridged that gap, making long-distance relationships manageable. Still, nothing beats meeting new people face-to-face and discovering new cultural experiences firsthand. Balancing two homes 10,000 kilometers apart requires flexibility, open-mindedness, and a willingness to embrace uncertainty. But it also offers a unique opportunity to live a richer life, enriched by diverse traditions, languages, and perspectives. Whether it's indulging in Chinese cuisine, exploring historical landmarks like Shanghai and Beijing, or celebrating Canadian customs during visits, these experiences have shaped a stronger sense of identity for me. For anyone considering moving internationally to connect with their roots or start fresh, my advice is to prepare for an emotional roller-coaster but also cherish the growth that comes with it. Take time to settle into your new surroundings, be patient with cultural adjustments, and always hold onto what makes you feel at home. The journey might be complicated, but ultimately, it's a beautiful blend of where you come from and where you're going.
