Advice I wish someone told me..
If I could go back and give my younger self some advice when I was first starting out in healthcare billing, it would be:
✨ Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Nobody knows everything in the beginning, and billing has so many moving parts. It’s okay to lean on others until things click.
✨ Stay patient with yourself. The denials, corrections, and re-submissions can feel overwhelming at first. Take a deep breath—it really does get easier with experience.
✨ Get organized early. Color-coded folders, spreadsheets, reminders—whatever works for you. Having a system makes the stressful days so much smoother.
✨ Keep learning. Payer rules and codes will change constantly. If you stay curious and keep learning, you’ll always be one step ahead.
✨ Remember why you’re doing it. Behind every code and claim is a real patient. Accuracy matters because it impacts someone’s care and financial peace of mind.

Love the emphasis on organization! A good system makes all the difference during those busy days.
