Being postpartum this time is VASTLY different than when I was postpartum last.

4 years ago I was diagnosed with Hashimotos. I was drinking 400+ mg of caffeine a day and STRUGGLING. My hair was falling out in clumps. I was angry. I could have slept 24 hours a day. I was not me.

This postpartum? I no longer drink more than 50mg of caffeine a day. I have mental clarity. I still get a little overwhelmed but I think some of that is juggling 3 kids. I have energy to play with my kids ALL DAY.

That is healing.

... Read moreLiving with Hashimoto's during postpartum can feel overwhelming, but healing is possible with the right approach. From personal experience, drastically reducing caffeine intake helped me regain control over my energy levels and mental clarity. Four years ago, when I was consuming over 400mg of caffeine daily, I faced severe symptoms like hair loss, irritability, and constant fatigue. Managing these while caring for a newborn made recovery feel impossible. This time around, controlling my caffeine to under 50mg a day, alongside focusing on proper nutrition and self-care, made a significant difference. I integrated a balanced diet rich in selenium, zinc, and vitamin D—nutrients known to support thyroid function. Regular gentle exercise also contributed to boosting my energy and mood. It’s important to listen to your body and seek guidance from healthcare professionals who understand autoimmune thyroid conditions. I also found that connecting with others facing similar challenges provided emotional support and practical tips for managing symptoms. Remember, postpartum healing with Hashimoto’s is a journey, not a destination. Celebrate small wins like sustained energy for your kids and moments of mental clarity. These improvements reflect real progress and offer hope to anyone who feels like they’ll never heal from Hashimoto’s.

postpartum is the most vulnerable seasons for being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease
