Making matcha ice cream during a run might sound unconventional, but it's a refreshing and fun way to combine exercise with a tasty reward. I've tried this myself on humid days, especially when the heat made me crave something cold and sweet. The secret lies in the two-bag method: sealing your creamy matcha mixture inside a smaller bag, then placing it inside a larger ice bag filled with ice and salt. The salt lowers the freezing point of the ice, allowing your matcha mixture to freeze quickly during your run. For the best flavor and texture, I recommend using 2 cups of heavy whipping cream or a mix with half-and-half or milk, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla bean extract, and matcha powder adjusted to your taste. Be sure to seal the smaller bag tightly to avoid leaks as you run. Since humidity and temperature can vary, adding extra ice may be necessary. Carrying the bag setup in a secure waist or cross-body pouch keeps it stable while running, ensuring your ice cream forms evenly. The physical motion and cold environment work together to churn and freeze the mixture, resulting in a creamy, delicious treat that feels better than store-bought ice cream. This method is not only a playful way to enjoy homemade ice cream but also encourages you to be active and creative in the kitchen. Experiment with different flavors like vanilla, chocolate, or fruity blends next time. Just remember, the balance of creaminess, sweetness, and matcha flavor is key to your success. Running with a purpose has never been so delicious!
