Homemade Cinnamon Rolls
Slow mornings, warm kitchens, and the smell of cinnamon rolls baking — this recipe is pure comfort. Soft, fluffy rolls with a gooey cinnamon center and creamy frosting, made completely from scratch.
INGREDIENTS
DOUGH
¾ cup warm milk (110°F)
½ cup granulated sugar (divided)
2½ tsp active dry yeast
½ cup Greek yogurt or sour cream (room temp)
½ cup salted butter (very soft)
2 eggs (room temp)
1 tsp vanilla
4½ cups bread flour (or all-purpose)
1 tsp salt
CINNAMON FILLING
½ cup salted butter (softened)
1 cup light brown sugar
2 tbsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
½ cup heavy cream (for pouring over rolls)
CREAM CHEESE FROSTING
8 oz cream cheese (softened)
¼ cup salted butter (softened)
1¾ cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
DIRECTIONS
Activate yeast with warm milk, 1 tbsp sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–7 minutes until foamy.
Mix flour and salt.
Add yeast mixture, remaining sugar, yogurt, butter, eggs, vanilla, and flour mixture.
Knead until smooth and slightly sticky.
Let dough rise 30–45 minutes until doubled.
Mix filling ingredients.
Roll dough out, spread filling evenly, roll tightly, and cut into rolls.
Place in greased pan and rise 25–30 minutes.
Pour warm heavy cream over rolls.
Bake at 350°F, then increase to 375°F until golden.
Frost while warm and enjoy.
