I ATE MORE and did LESS CARDIO This is what happened..

For a long time my whole routine was walking myself into the ground and fasting, literally treating food like it was the enemy. Around 1,200 to 1,300 calories a day, miles and miles of cardio, barely any lifting. I was exhausted, I was burned out. And yeah, I got smaller. But I had no shape, no strength, and no energy left for my actual life.

Now I eat about 1,800 a day and I lift like I mean it. Cardio still has a place in my routine and I am not knocking it. Cardio is good for you. Your heart needs it, your endurance needs it. But you cannot make it your entire personality and expect to build a body.

Here is the part nobody tells you.

If your only goal is to drop weight fast, cardio will get you there. That is what it is built for.

But if you want to change the actual shape of your body, if you want to build muscle and look strong, cardio is not where you start. You have to train for the look you want. You have to lift, and you have to feed your body enough to build something on.

Losing weight and looking the way you actually want are not always the same goal. Pick the one you are really after, then train for that.

... Read moreAfter shifting my focus from endless cardio sessions and low-calorie fasting to eating more and lifting weights, I noticed a profound transformation—not just in my physique but in my overall well-being. Initially, I believed that cutting calories to around 1,200 daily and engaging in miles of cardio was the ultimate path to weight loss and fitness. While this approach did lead to weight loss, it left me drained, weak, and with little definition or strength. By increasing my daily calorie intake to roughly 1,800 and incorporating consistent strength training, I began to rebuild muscle and reshape my body. It's important to understand that cardio is valuable for cardiovascular health and endurance, but it won't give you the muscular tone or energy levels that come from lifting weights. Strength training stimulates muscle growth, which can enhance metabolism and improve your body's composition significantly. Another key realization was that eating more doesn't necessarily mean gaining unwanted fat when done strategically. Feeding your body enough fuel supports muscle repair and growth, improving your appearance and strength. This balance helped me avoid the burnout I experienced with my old routine. For those embarking on a similar fitness journey, I recommend setting clear goals—do you want to lose weight quickly, or do you want to build a strong, shaped physique? Depending on your goal, your training and nutrition plan should reflect that. If muscle building and toning are your priorities, focus on weightlifting combined with a nutritious calorie intake rather than relying solely on cardio. Ultimately, embracing strength training alongside moderate cardio has allowed me to feel energized, confident, and healthier in daily life, proving that more food and less cardio can be a winning combination if aligned with your fitness goals.
