This tray is how surgeons give you your….
Ever wonder what surgery on your ear actually looks like behind the scenes?
👂🔍 This is the inside of an ear surgical tray, straight from an outpatient surgery center.
Every instrument in here has a purpose:
• Speculums to gently open the ear canal so the surgeon can see inside.
• Suction tips to remove wax, fluid, or infection.
• Micro scissors and forceps for delicate cutting and grasping.
• Drill attachments and curettes for cleaning out infected bone or tissue in cases like cholesteatoma.
• Pick instruments for fine work around the eardrum.
When you come in for an ear surgery — whether it’s for ear tubes, a tympanoplasty (eardrum repair), or mastoid surgery — these are the tools surgeons rely on to restore hearing, treat infections, and improve quality of life.
As someone in sterile processing, it’s my job to make sure every single one of these delicate micro-instruments is spotless, sterilized, and ready to go. With ear surgery, even the tiniest speck of debris or a dull instrument can impact the outcome — so the pressure is high, but the reward is huge.
POV: You just see a tray of shiny tools, but I see the instruments that literally help someone hear again. ✨
