How I had an unmedicated birth ✨🤰🏻

First and foremost this is not to shame any mama who has done otherwise! This was my second unmedicated birth, my first one I opted for the epidural because I had not mentally prepared myself and had never taken or researched a birthing class. I cannot recommend Built to birth enough to any mama wanting to have a natural birth! I’m going to list my most important tools in order.

> 🛀 Bath (natures epidural) the amount of relief I felt in the bath was absolutely amazing!!!!

> 🎧 I downloaded birth meditations on Spotify

Birth Visualization by Live love and Birth &

Positive affirmations by The Mindful Birth Group

> 🛏️ Got on all fours in the bed and had the bed at an incline. This is so important, to be in a position that works for YOU and is comfortable for YOU!

> Combs, I gripped those during every contraction during the transition phase

> ❄️A FAN, my friend had put lavender essential oils on a breast pad that I had brought and my husband had the idea to stick it in front (somehow) to where the aroma was blowing straight towards my face and it helped me focus on something. The nurse said she had never seen it before but she was going to take their idea for another mama!!

> 🦁Roar your baby out! Practice practice practice. Sounds weird but practice when you’re doing a bowel movement before baby is here.

I hope these help another mama approaching her due date! You got this 🙌🏼

-I wanted to add to this post that I read Ina Mays guide to childbirth to prep me, and I absolutely loved reading other women’s natural birth experience and her guidance was amazing 🥰

... Read moreUnmedicated birth can be a transformative experience for many mothers. It's essential to understand the benefits and techniques that can facilitate a smoother labor process. One popular method is the use of water during labor, often referred to as a 'water birth'. The warm water can help soothe contractions and provide relaxation, often compared to a natural epidural. Additionally, many find comfort in prenatal meditation and visualization techniques. These practices can reduce anxiety and foster a positive mindset leading up to labor. Another crucial aspect is ensuring you have supportive companions during birth, whether that be a partner, friend, or professional doula. Having someone you trust can make a significant difference in your comfort level. Practicing the breathing techniques and postures beforehand will also empower you during labor. The role of movement during labor cannot be underestimated; changing positions frequently can help alleviate pain and assist in the baby's descent. Furthermore, prepare your environment. Consider bringing items that provide comfort, such as your favorite essential oils, a portable fan, or even familiar music playlists. In summary, an unmedicated birth requires preparation and support, but it can be a deeply rewarding experience for those who choose this path.

I appreciate posts like these so much especially since I’m due in August and don’t want to get an epidural due to how my body reacts with certain medications

👉 If you want an unmedicated birth in a hospital, let’s get real: you’re stepping into a system that’s not set up for that. The birth industry is built to move you down a conveyor belt of protocols, quick fixes, and routine interventions – not to give you the natural birth you deserve and desire.
