sorry for the rant but ugh people #bengali #bangladeshtiktok #browngymgirl
As someone deeply connected to my Bengali roots yet raised outside traditional environments, I’ve encountered unexpected challenges, especially online. Many have told me I’m not "pure" or don’t fit traditional standards simply because my upbringing was multicultural. But this journey has made me realize how important it is to claim and celebrate my identity on my own terms. Representation matters immensely, particularly in spaces like fitness, where Bengali voices are still emerging. Having my heritage visible in my bio invites conversations that educate and inspire, even if it also attracts negativity. It's painful when criticism comes from within our own communities, but it has motivated me to continue being visible and authentic. I encourage others embracing diverse backgrounds to hold pride in their story too. Our identities are multi-faceted and shaped by our experiences across geographies. Instead of hiding or feeling ashamed, sharing these personal narratives can foster understanding, break stereotypes, and build solidarity. Ultimately, I've learned to take negative comments less personally and focus on connecting with those who appreciate and support me. Staying true to who I am helps me grow not just as a content creator but as a proud Bengali contributor to broader cultural discussions.
