Chicken Parmesan is a classic favorite, and this high-protein version takes it to the next level by incorporating cottage cheese, which boosts the protein content significantly while maintaining a creamy texture. Cottage cheese is a great source of casein protein, which digests slowly and helps keep you full longer. Using breaded chicken adds a satisfying crunch, but for a lower-carb twist, you could try baked or grilled chicken breast without breading. Marinara sauce adds rich tomato flavor without too many calories, and mixing it with Italian seasoning and garlic powder creates a wonderful aromatic base. The inclusion of shredded Parmesan or mozzarella cheese on top not only adds flavor but also contributes extra protein and calcium. When preparing this dish, microwaving initially helps to meld the flavors quickly; however, finishing it in the oven at 375°F for 12-15 minutes ensures the chicken is cooked evenly and the cheese melts perfectly. Broiling for the last 1-2 minutes gives a golden, bubbly cheese crust. This meal is especially beneficial for those focused on muscle building or weight management, as 50 grams of protein supports muscle repair and satiety. You can pair this dish with a side of steamed vegetables or a crisp salad to keep the meal balanced and nutrient-rich. If you want to experiment, try different herbs like basil or oregano instead of Italian seasoning, or swap mozzarella with part-skim ricotta for a different cheese experience. Overall, this recipe is a fantastic way to enjoy traditional comfort food with a healthy and protein-packed twist.
