Gas Stove or Induction Cooker

This was probably one of the things that took me the longest to decide on 🔥 🔥🧑‍🍳

Having used both gas and induction cookers before, I know clearly the pros and cons of each. There are things I absolutely love about both.

As you can see from the photo, I eventually chose a gas stove. Not because I dislike induction, but I just love being able to see and control the flame directly. Somehow, stir-fry dishes just taste better on gas too.

That said, I really miss the spotless cleaning and super fast boiling speed from induction hahaha.

So I’ve listed down the pros and cons of both, and I’ll leave the decision to you.

Are you Team Gas Stove or Team Induction? 👀

... Read moreChoosing between a gas stove and an induction cooker can indeed be a challenging decision, especially for those who love cooking and want the best appliance for their kitchen. From personal experience, both types offer unique advantages that cater to different cooking styles and priorities. Gas stoves provide a distinct advantage with their visible flame, giving you more precise control over heat levels. This is particularly important when stir-frying or preparing dishes that require quick temperature adjustments. The high heat output and the ability to use any kind of cookware, including non-induction compatible pots and pans, make gas stoves versatile for various recipes. However, cleaning can be tedious since spills and grease tend to accumulate around burner grates, and they require proper ventilation as they emit heat and fumes during use. On the other hand, induction cookers impress with their fast heating and energy efficiency. Because induction technology uses electromagnetic fields to directly heat the cookware, water boils and food cooks much faster, saving time and electricity. The smooth, flat surface is incredibly easy to clean—just a simple wipe removes most messes. Safety is another plus since the surface remains relatively cool and there is no open flame, reducing fire hazards. That said, induction cookers demand compatible cookware which might mean investing in new pots, and the lack of visible heat may require some getting used to in mastering cooking temperatures. In my kitchen journey, I ended up favoring the gas stove mainly due to the tactile experience of flame adjustment and the flavor it imparts to dishes cooked over high heat. Yet, I do miss the convenience and speed of the induction cooker, especially for tasks like boiling water swiftly or cleaning up after cooking. For those prioritizing safety, energy efficiency, and easy maintenance, an induction cooker could be the perfect fit. Ultimately, the choice comes down to your cooking habits and kitchen needs. If you enjoy the traditional feel and smoky flavors from a gas stove, it’s a great choice. But if you want a modern, fast, and safer option that’s easier to clean, an induction cooker may serve you better. Knowing both the pros and cons, you can make an informed decision tailored to your preferences and lifestyle.

Induction for sure! Safety, easy to clean and sleek look. I cook big batch like rendang or sambal, it goes very well.

I just change to induction, after 14yrs of using gas. Good about induction if open fan no worries of wind blowing whereas gas can’t even open the fan. Keeps blowing and food intend to cook slower 😅
