... Read moreTrying out a new art style can be both exciting and challenging. When I recently decided to create fan art inspired by Phase 1 Noodle of Gorillaz, I chose ibisPaint X as my digital tool. The app offers a great balance of professional features and user-friendly functions, making it ideal for experimenting with various brushes and effects.
What I found particularly interesting was infusing the artwork with a slight eerie vibe, hinted at by the Japanese text seen in the image: "すべての死体は死にきれているわけではない 々はそれらを殺し、そしてまた起きあがって殺す" which roughly translates to "Not all corpses are truly dead; they kill and then rise to kill again." This dark undertone reflects some themes found within Gorillaz's storytelling, adding depth to the visual.
During my process, focusing on the contrast between shadows and highlights really helped bring out the character's essence. Additionally, sharing my progress using relevant hashtags like #artbyme, #gorillaz, and #noodlegorillaz allowed me to connect with similar fans and receive valuable feedback.
If you're inspired to try your own version of Phase 1 Noodle or any Gorillaz character, I recommend exploring digital art tools that provide layers and customizable brushes. Don't hesitate to experiment with blending modes and color palettes to capture the mood you want. Additionally, looking into the band's history and character backstories can enrich your creative approach, making your art not just visually appealing but narratively engaging.
This is beautiful ❤️🔥
