Work day working 12 hours a day are not fun !!

... Read moreWorking 12-hour days isn't for the faint of heart, and believe me, I know how draining it can be! I used to dread those long shifts, feeling completely wiped out by the end. But over time, I've developed a few personal strategies that have really helped me not just survive, but actually thrive, even on the busiest days. If you're wondering how to work 12 hours a day without completely burning out, here’s what I’ve learned. First off, my morning routine is non-negotiable. Even if it means waking up a little earlier, I make sure to have at least 30 minutes to myself before diving into work. This usually involves a quick stretch, a cup of coffee enjoyed in silence, and jotting down my top three priorities for the day. It sets a calm tone and gives me a sense of control before the day gets hectic. During the workday, strategic breaks are my secret weapon. It's so tempting to power through, but I've found that taking short, intentional breaks every 2-3 hours makes a huge difference. Sometimes it's just five minutes to walk away from my desk, grab some water, or step outside for a breath of fresh air. For lunch, I try my best to completely disconnect – no emails, no work-related tasks. Even a 20-minute mental reset can recharge my batteries significantly. Fueling my body properly is another big one. When you're working long hours, it's easy to reach for unhealthy snacks or skip meals. I always pack a nutritious lunch and several healthy snacks like fruit, nuts, or yogurt. Staying hydrated is also key; I keep a large water bottle at my desk and make sure to refill it constantly. Trust me, dehydration can make you feel sluggish and impact your focus more than you realize. Prioritization is absolutely crucial. Before I start my shift, I quickly review my tasks and identify the most important ones. This helps me focus my energy where it counts and avoids getting overwhelmed by a never-ending to-do list. I also try to tackle the most challenging tasks earlier in the day when my energy levels are higher. Finally, winding down after work is just as important as starting strong. When I get home, I resist the urge to immediately jump into chores or scroll endlessly. Instead, I dedicate an hour to something relaxing – reading a book, listening to music, or taking a warm shower. It helps signal to my brain that the workday is over and allows me to decompress properly. And on weekends, I make sure to completely unplug and engage in activities I love to truly recharge for the week ahead. It's definitely a marathon, not a sprint, but by incorporating these small habits, I've managed to make my 12-hour workdays much more manageable and less like a chore. I hope these tips help you find your own rhythm and embrace your long workdays with a little more ease!
