Is your strength actually a trap?
For a Gen X woman, "carrying it all" has always been the gold standard.
We were raised to be the fixers, the low-maintenance daughters, and the highly competent leaders. We took pride in our ability to hold the world together without breaking a sweat. But here is the truth we don’t talk about: Being "strong" enough to carry everyone else’s weight is just over-functioning in a fancy coat.
True resilience isn't about your capacity for more labor. It’s about the courage it takes to look at a "responsibility" that isn't yours and decide you are no longer available to carry it.
Putting the bag down isn't a failure of your strength. It’s the ultimate act of self-respect. It’s the moment you stop functioning for a system that doesn't value your peace and start functioning for yourself.
What is one thing you are giving yourself permission to put down this week? 💙
