Do you ever feel pressured to stay positive? 🥺😭
Nothing is more triggering than when someone tells me “everything happens for a reason” during one of my lowest moments. Or when I feel like I NEED to show a smile and be positive about something I went through that absolutely devastated me. And… Whenever someone says this to me I feel like externally I accept the situation and just smile/nod. But internally I feel pressured to stay positive during what feels like one of the worst moments in life. This is honestly one of the worst feelings I experience sometimes and it makes me breakdown and cry as soon as I get to be alone. Like do I need to stay positive 24/7? No…
Recently I got promoted at work but had to pass a ton of state tests. After about 7 months into this process/training I FAILED a test and lost my promotion. Returning back to my previous position. I was feeling all the feels, definitely feeling very down overall. And literally everyone around me was telling me “everything happens for a reason”. But what’s the reason for this?? Truthfully it’s been a few months since this has happened and I still haven’t found “the reason” but I feel much better about the situation. Sometimes we just need to process what’s happened and accept the emotions. I’ve also learned that not everything has to happen for a reason. In this particular situation I kept searching for that “reason” and honestly never found it. But I’ve learned other things in the process. And one of them is that sometimes things just happen and I need to accept the situation for what it is.

I totally get this. The pressure to be positive can be so isolating. It's like you have to put on a brave face even when you're falling apart. Your vulnerability is appreciated!
