Do you ever feel pressured to stay positive?

“Everything happens for a reason.” You’ve probably heard that before. But sometimes, when life throws something heavy at you, don’t you just want to ask, “Okay, but what’s the reason, why me, and why is it happening now??”

I feel like I can’t catch a break sometimes and it’s exhausting staying so positive. Like I’m hoping for there to be a bigger reason for everything I’m going through.

We live in a culture that pushes toxic positivity, like we always have to smile, stay strong, and look for the silver lining. But what if you don’t feel like being positive? What if what you really need is space to feel, to grieve, or to be frustrated without someone telling you to “look on the bright side”?

Do you ever feel pressured to stay positive when all you want is to just be real with your emotions?

Staying positive all the time is draining! Toxic positivity is just as harmful as being negative all the time. It’s healthy to feel upset, angry, etc. and acknowledge when something makes you feel that way.

If you don’t want to stay positive you don’t have to. It’s so exhausting and isn’t always possible in every situation.

Nothing is more triggering than when someone tells me “everything happens for a reason” during one of my lowest moments. Or when I feel like I NEED to show a smile and be positive about something I went through that absolutely devastated me. And… Whenever someone says this to me I feel like externa

Why does it feel like we’re not allowed to just… feel? Life isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes it’s hard, and forcing positivity makes it worse. Being sad doesn’t mean you’re ungrateful. Being honest doesn’t mean you’re negative. It just means you’re human. Do you ever feel pressured
