The secret to their amazing softness lies in the milk bread technique. It creates a dough that's incredibly pliable and yields a super tender crumb, making these chocolate bunz truly irresistible. It might sound intimidating, but trust me, with a little patience, anyone can master it. My journey to perfecting these soft chocolate buns involved a lot of trial and error, but the joy of biting into a perfectly pillowy bun made it all worth it. Getting the dough right is crucial. I always make sure my milk is lukewarm, not hot, to activate the yeast perfectly. Kneading is a workout, but it's essential for developing the gluten that gives the buns their structure and chewiness. I usually aim for about 10-15 minutes of kneading until the dough passes the windowpane test – where you can stretch a small piece thin enough to see light through it without tearing. First proofing usually takes about 1-1.5 hours in a warm spot until it's doubled in size. This is where the magic really starts to happen!
