My fitness journey 💪🏼🌸🤍

I have been on this journey for almost 3 years no and somewhat consider myself to be a bit of a gym rat. I started this journey with the intentions of losing weight which did but go so tangled in the cycle that it became an unhealthy obsession. My new goal is to eat 2-3 meals a day while staying whiten my macros and consuming lots of protein. I go to the gym every week day and run or walk at an incline for a minimum of 2 miles a day. #fitnesstransformationjourney #progress🙏🏻 #gainsinprogress #gymgirl #gymrat #unfiltered #gym #Fitness #healthy #health

... Read moreReaching 170lb after starting my journey at 320lb was a massive milestone, but it also brought a whole new set of challenges and goals. For so long, my focus was purely on getting the scale down, and I even had an unhealthy obsession with achieving a 'tiny waist.' While I did successfully lose a significant amount of weight, hitting 170lb meant it was time to shift gears from just weight loss to a more sustainable and strength-focused approach. Now, my true health and strength journey means less emphasis on just getting smaller and more on building a robust physique. Becoming a true 'gym rat' isn't just about showing up at the gym; it's a complete lifestyle shift, especially for a 170lb woman aiming to gain lots of muscle. My body now demands specific fuel to support muscle growth and recovery. I've learned that hitting my protein targets is absolutely non-negotiable. It's not just about eating 2-3 meals a day; it's about what goes into those meals. My plate looks very different now compared to when I was solely focused on calorie restriction. I prioritize lean protein sources like chicken, fish, and Greek yogurt, along with complex carbohydrates and healthy fats to fuel my workouts and aid in muscle repair. Consistently consuming enough protein has been a game-changer for my energy levels and the visible progress in my physique. My daily minimum of 2 miles on an incline is still a staple in my routine. However, its purpose has evolved. It now complements my strength training, focusing on cardiovascular health and endurance rather than just burning calories. In the weights room, my goal is to consistently challenge myself for progressive overload, aiming to truly gain lots of muscle. The mental shift from wanting to 'tone body' through endless cardio to actively lifting heavy and building strength has been incredibly empowering. Tracking my lifts and seeing improvements in strength has become a far more motivating factor than simply seeing a smaller number on the scale. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle at 170lb, especially when your primary goals shift from fat loss to muscle building, comes with its own unique hurdles. Sometimes the scale doesn't move as fast, or even increases due to muscle gain, which can be mentally tough after experiencing rapid weight loss. I’ve found it crucial to track progress beyond just the numbers – celebrating strength gains, how my clothes fit, and my overall energy levels are huge motivators. Being 'unfiltered' with myself about off days or times when motivation dips helps me stay accountable without falling back into old, obsessive patterns. It’s a continuous learning process to nourish my body correctly and push my limits safely. For any 170lb woman, or anyone on a similar journey to transform their body and build strength, here are a few things I've learned from my own experience: Prioritize protein: It is vital for muscle repair, growth, and keeping you feeling full and satisfied. Don't underestimate its power. Embrace strength training: Lifting weights is not just for men; it's incredibly effective for toning, shaping, and gaining lots of muscle. Listen to your body: Recovery, sleep, and proper hydration are just as important as your workouts. Don't push through pain. Find your 'why': My 'why' shifted from 'lose weight' to 'be strong, healthy, and capable,' and that inner motivation keeps me consistent and focused on my current goals.
