Dressing for your body type
Hey everyone! So, like many of you, I used to just buy clothes I liked without really thinking about how they flattered my shape. It wasn't until I had my 'aha!' moment and realized my body was more of an hourglass figure that everything clicked. The first step when dressing truly *is knowing what body you have*! It makes such a difference in feeling confident and creating that elevated style we all crave. Beyond hourglass and rectangle shapes, understanding your unique proportions is key. For my fellow size 10-12 women (and everyone!), embracing your body type means finding clothes that celebrate your assets. If you have a pear shape, you might have narrower shoulders and wider hips, so balancing your silhouette with statement tops or A-line skirts can be amazing. For apple shapes, focusing on elongating the torso with V-necks and empire waists, and showing off great legs, can be super flattering. Inverted triangles, with shoulders that are broad compared to narrower hips, can rock full skirts or wide-leg pants to balance their frame. Let's talk about specific outfit ideas, especially for those hot weather work outfits or achieving that chic old money outfits women vibe. For an hourglass, like my own experience, emphasizing the smallest part of my waist is crucial. *High-waisted wide-leg jeans*, as mentioned before, are a game-changer! Pair them with a fitted blouse or a tucked-in top to *accentuate your waist*. For a work setting in summer, try a tailored linen dress with a belt, or a silk blouse tucked into a wide-leg palazzo pant. To get that 'old money' feel, think classic silhouettes: tailored blazers, crisp button-downs, and elegant trousers, all cinched at the waist if you're an hourglass. What about those with a *high hip flare body type*? Many of us, regardless of overall shape, have this feature. When choosing jeans, a straight-leg or bootcut can beautifully complement a flare, giving a balanced look. Avoid super low-rise jeans if you want to emphasize your natural waistline. Instead, opt for mid-to-high rise styles that sit comfortably. If you're a girl looking for outfit photo inspiration, try playing with layers. Even in warmer weather, a lightweight, unbuttoned blouse over a cami can add dimension. And for cooler evenings, a trench coat, perhaps a rich burgundy trench coat like one I tried, instantly adds sophistication and can define your waist if worn belted. Remember, these are guidelines, not strict rules. Whether you're a size 12 body shape or any other, the goal is to feel good in what you wear. Experiment with colors and textures. Don't be afraid to try different cuts of tops and bottoms. The more you understand your body, the easier it becomes to pick outfits that make you shine. Happy styling!
