Postpartum healing essentials ✨📌

As a first time mom I had no idea what my postpartum journey was going to look like. I was so scared about the healing process and the pain. But honestly it wasn’t that bad! Here is a list of items and how you’ll be using them on your post partum journey.

1. Upside down peri bottle: The hospital will give you one of these that kind’ve looks like a ketchup bottle. This one makes it much easier to use. Each time you use the bathroom you will use this to spray water all over your perineum to help with the discomfort and clean you. Then you will pat dry.

2. Adult diapers: I could not live without these my first week!! These things are huge and soft and helps hold everything in that you need in there to help with your healing.

3. Maxi pads: these will be helpful for during and after the diaper stage. It’s just one more layer to hold everything together. You will be wearing these for several weeks as your body is still slowing getting rid of fluid from birth.

4. Tucks pads: these things are magic. They help soooooo much with the pain. You will place these little round pads in your diaper/on your pad like you’re lining salami on a sandwich. Once you pull everything up the cooling sensation helps so much with the discomfort.

5. Dermoplast: same with the tucks, this helps with the pain. This is the very last thing you will add to your diaper cocktail. Spray a little on the diaper and also some on your sensitive area directly before pulling everything up.

6. High-waisted cotton underwear: I am 3 months postpartum and still wearing these sometimes. Once you’re out of your diaper stage you will want large panties to hold your maxi pad and everything you are still putting on it. It also helps to hold in your now very loose tummy and helped me feel more comfortable walking around the house.

7. Hibiclens skin soap: Ask the hospital for this!!! You will need to clean your stitches with a little soap in the shower (if you have any). But you don’t want to use anything scented or strong. I asked for something and this is what they brought me. I used it every shower for several weeks postpartum. Once I cleaned it I then rinsed with my peri bottle and voila! Good as new!!

Postpartum is such a roller coaster but don’t fear, you’re built for this!!! Everyday is easier than the last. Good luck mamas!! ❤️‍🩹

... Read moreSpeaking of postpartum essentials, let me dive a little deeper into one item that truly saved me: Dermoplast Pain Relieving Spray. When you're navigating the raw reality of postpartum healing, especially 'down there,' immediate relief isn't just a luxury, it's a necessity. From my own incredibly personal experience, this spray was nothing short of a miracle worker. The original article touched upon it, mentioning it as the 'last thing you add to your diaper cocktail.' But let me expand on why it's so crucial. After giving birth, whether it was a vaginal delivery with stitches or just general swelling and soreness, the perineal area can feel incredibly tender. Every trip to the bathroom, every movement, can bring discomfort. This is where Dermoplast steps in. What I found so amazing about it was the instant effect. The moment you spray it, you feel this incredible, soothing coolness. It's not just a distraction; it’s a genuine numbing sensation that takes the edge off the pain. The label on the bottle often highlights its hospital strength formula, and believe me, it lives up to that claim. It contains ingredients designed to quickly alleviate pain, itching, and burning – all common postpartum complaints. The addition of Aloe & Lanolin is also key, as these ingredients are known for their soothing and moisturizing properties, which further aid in comforting irritated skin. My routine involved using it after every bathroom break. First, I'd use my peri bottle with warm water to gently cleanse the area, then I'd pat dry with a clean, soft cloth. Then came the Dermoplast. I'd spray it directly onto the areas that felt the most sensitive, often where I had stitches or generalized soreness. A quick, generous spray would deliver that much-needed relief. Sometimes, I’d also spray a little onto the top of my maxi pad or adult diaper, creating a continuous soothing barrier against friction and discomfort. This technique, combining it with other essentials, truly made a difference in my daily comfort levels. One common question I had, and I’m sure many first-time moms do too, is whether it’s safe with stitches or open wounds. I personally checked with my hospital nurse, and they reassured me that it’s perfectly safe and, in fact, highly recommended for perineal care. It didn't sting at all for me; it was purely a cooling and numbing sensation, which was a huge relief. However, always consult with your healthcare provider if you have any specific concerns or unusual reactions. Beyond the physical relief, there’s a significant psychological benefit. Knowing I had this powerful tool in my arsenal helped reduce my anxiety about the healing process. It allowed me to focus more on my newborn and less on my own discomfort, which is invaluable during such a tender time. It truly cools and comforts pain relief, making those first few weeks much more bearable. So, whether you're a first-time mom like I was, or welcoming another little one, make sure Dermoplast is on your postpartum checklist. It's easily found in most pharmacies, and sometimes, the hospital might even provide a small bottle. Don't hesitate to ask! It's one of those small investments that yields huge returns in comfort and peace of mind during your incredible, yet challenging, postpartum journey.
