A few mornings ago, my 16-year-old called me on her way to work.

Black ice.

Big snowstorm.

Her car slid off the road.

Totaled.

She is completely fine.

A sore back. Shaken up.

But safe.

And if you’re a parent of a teenager learning to drive… you know.

That phone call hits your body before your brain.

A year ago?

I would’ve spiraled.

Heart racing.

Shallow breathing.

Worst-case scenarios playing on repeat.

Snapping at everyone because my nervous system was fried.

But this time?

I was calm.

Still concerned.

Still handling logistics.

Still figuring out insurance and transportation and all the things.

But no panic.

No hyperventilating.

No anxious spiral.

No crash afterward.

And halfway through the day I realized…

My body handled stress differently.

Not because life is less stressful.

But because my cortisol response isn’t running the show anymore.

I’ve been consistently drinking what I call my “cortisol duo” — and I didn’t realize how much it was working until life tested it.
