Update: 3 months post op and it’s not easy having to relearn to do things you were once good at but this process is teaching me to slow down & take it each moment at a time.
I won’t be competing this upcoming season🙁 going to take this time to get stronger & heal. Don’t won’t to rush anything but yall will see my back on the track for the 2027 season 💕
Recovering from Achilles tendon surgery is a challenging journey that demands patience, dedication, and resilience. At three months post-op, it's common to face difficulties relearning everyday movements and athletic skills that once felt effortless. This recovery phase requires slowing down and focusing on incremental progress, emphasizing quality over speed to avoid setbacks. Physical therapy plays a crucial role in regaining strength and mobility after surgery. A well-designed rehab program includes exercises to improve range of motion, flexibility, and muscle strength around the injured tendon. Consistency in therapy sessions and at-home exercises significantly impacts the recovery timeline and long-term outcomes. Athletes often struggle emotionally with the forced break from competition but viewing this period as an opportunity to rebuild can foster a more sustainable return to sport. Prioritizing healing over rushing back ensures that the tendon fully recovers, reducing the risk of re-injury. Staying motivated through daily challenges, celebrating small victories, and maintaining a positive mindset contribute to successful rehabilitation. Support from healthcare professionals, coaches, and the community also provides encouragement and accountability. Planning to return strong for the 2027 season, taking plenty of time to recover and prepare reflects a wise approach to injury management. This thoughtful process sets the foundation for a resilient comeback and longer athletic career. By embracing the journey, athletes exemplify strength not only in physical prowess but in mental fortitude.
