I'm always running for the needs of others and I'm just done.

6/26 Edited to

... Read moreI've often found myself in the exhausting cycle of putting others' needs before my own, only to realize that my well-being was slipping through the cracks. The feeling of constantly running for people who wouldn't do the same for me can be disheartening, and it's a tough lesson to learn that you can't always be the hero in everyone else's story. What helped me begin to shift this pattern was recognizing that not every situation requires my immediate attention or sacrifice. Someone else's emergency doesn't have to become mine, and setting healthy boundaries isn't selfish—it's essential for maintaining balance and mental health. By slowly teaching myself to step back and say no when necessary, I noticed an increase in my own energy and peace of mind. It was uncomfortable at first, especially when accustomed to being the dependable one, but over time I learned that self-care allowed me to offer genuine support when I could truly be present. It's important to surround yourself with people who respect your limits and to remember that your value isn't measured solely by how much you give to others. Running non-stop for those who do not reciprocate can lead to burnout, so prioritizing yourself isn't just beneficial; it's critical. If you're feeling overwhelmed by others’ demands, know that it’s okay to pause and prioritize your own needs. This shift leads to healthier relationships, greater personal fulfillment, and a stronger foundation from which to support others when needed.

I would NOT have considered myself a runner earlier this year. I've always enjoyed sprinting but long distance running was never my thing or something I was good at. But I decided to sign up for a 10 mile race in the summer to challenge myself and by surprise I slowly began to love running!!

Starting off rough. My allergies are at 100 today and it feels like I have 10 pounds of phlegm sitting in my chest! Still ran though! Was it perfect no, was it an amazing run? Far from. But guess what. I did it. That’s what connects. Another day good or bad that’s a step in the right direction.
