My first loaf had an awkward shape, which is totally normal for beginners, and it reminded me that every bakerโ€™s journey has its rough starts. In trying different inclusions like cheddar and jalapeno, or sun-dried tomatoes with Parmesan, I found that adding flavors not only makes the bread more exciting but also motivates you to keep baking and improving. Sharing loaves with friends has been one of the highlights, as it adds a sense of community and accomplishment. One surprising success was the rosemary and garlic loaf which, despite being simple, had such a delightful aroma and taste that it became one of my favorites. Adding different mix-ins and flavors is a fun way to personalize your bread and learn how your starter reacts to various ingredients. Making an English muffin from sourdough starter was another experiment that paid off, offering a new texture and use for the starter beyond traditional loaves. My overall tip for anyone starting out: donโ€™t stress about perfect shapes or crusts. Focus on the process and enjoy each loaf's unique character. Keep feeding your starter regularly, and soon enough, youโ€™ll have a reliable, delicious base for countless baking creations. Remember, sourdough baking is as much about the journey as it is about the bread itself!
