Soft & Buttery Garlic Naan

Fluffy, chewy, and brushed with buttery garlic goodness—this Garlic Naan is the perfect side for curries, soups, grilled meats, or a simple dipping sauce. Made on a hot skillet, it’s quick, flavorful, and tastes even better than takeout!

📝 Ingredients (6–8 Naans)

For the dough:

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 tbsp sugar

1 tsp salt

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

½ cup plain yogurt

2 tbsp oil

½ cup warm milk (or water as needed)

Garlic butter:

3 tbsp melted butter

3–4 cloves minced garlic

Fresh cilantro or parsley (chopped)

1. Make the dough

In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.

Add yogurt and oil, then gradually pour in warm milk.

Mix until a soft dough forms. Knead for 5–7 minutes.

Cover and let it rest for 1 hour (dough becomes soft and stretchy).

Prepare garlic butter

Mix melted butter with minced garlic and chopped cilantro. Set aside.

3. Shape the naan

Divide the dough into 6–8 balls.

Roll out each one into an oval or round shape.

Brush lightly with water on one side (this helps it stick to the pan).

4. Cook the naan

Heat a pan or skillet on high.

Place naan (wet side down) on the pan.

When bubbles form, flip and cook the other side until golden spots appear.

Brush with garlic butter while warm.
