Why did I delete social media?

Yes you read that right, I deleted social media, for 3 weeks actually 😅 Instagram,X, and TikTok.

I found social media to me very detrimental to my outside relationship and I started to see it take negative effects on my life. I found myself in a bad mental state where every video I watched made me compare why I wasn’t in the same place as the person on the screen?, why can’t I have what this person has?, when will it be my turn to experience this?

All these questions continued to dig me into a deeper, darker state of my mind that made me start to project on those who I love. Due to this I decided to take a break from all social media with NO time limit whether in was 2 weeks, 2 months, or 2 years.

Because I have a goal to become a influencer I knew that it would benefit me more to heal myself internally and change my mindset. As we can see I am back on social media but as much as I like to post I believe that for my mental health I will taking breaks from all social media every once in a while for 1-2 weeks as a reset.

Also seeing as TikTok may be deleted I have turned to this app because I feel like I can create what content I want to without following any trends

... Read moreIn recent years, the conversation surrounding social media and mental health has grown significantly. Many individuals are re-evaluating their online presence and the effects it has on their well-being. Social media platforms often present curated lives, leading to unfounded comparisons that can result in anxiety and low self-esteem. Therefore, taking a break from these platforms can be an essential step towards addressing one’s mental health. Studies have shown that a detox from social media can lead to improved mood, better sleep, and increased mindfulness. During this time, individuals can focus on real-life connections, engage in hobbies, and develop a healthier relationship with technology. As more people recognize the potential negative impacts of constant scrolling and comparison, platforms like Lemon8 offer a refreshing escape where users can create content free from the pressure of trending standards. It's important to share experiences and support each other in understanding the need for digital breaks. Many influential figures encourage regular social media detoxes, emphasizing authenticity and self-care. Whether it’s a few days or a few weeks, prioritizing mental health can help foster a balanced approach to social media use. Ultimately, the goal should be creating a space that uplifts rather than diminishes our well-being.

I don’t know if it helps but I think of it as a healthy competition if I know friends are doing it. Literally when ever I see you post you inspire me so much because I get so lazy 😭 and I also use another person as motivation. You are doing so amazing and don’t stop 😤😍
