Garden Time!
It’s time to work on your compost, till the garden, and refresh your garden beds! #gardencleanup #gardencleaning #gardeningcanbehard
Spring is one of the best times for preparing your garden to ensure a bountiful growing season. From my own experience, starting with composting is key — it enriches the soil with vital nutrients and improves its structure, which helps plants establish strong roots. I usually collect kitchen scraps and yard waste to create my own compost pile during the late winter and early spring. Once composting is underway, tilling the soil is the next step. Tilling breaks up compacted earth, aerates the soil, and helps mix in the compost evenly. However, it's important not to over-till as this can disrupt beneficial soil organisms. I recommend lightly tilling just once or twice in early spring right before planting. Refreshing garden beds goes beyond just clearing debris; adding a layer of organic mulch such as shredded leaves or bark can help retain moisture and suppress weeds throughout the season. In my garden, cleaning up old plant material at the start of the season reduces pests and disease risks. Gardening can be hard, but focusing on these foundational tasks during #gardencleanup period really sets the stage for success. With patient effort and consistent care, your garden will transform into a vibrant space full of life and beauty this spring.
