how my body’s changed

accepting my postpartum body has been very difficult for me, and some days are harder than others. i’m 7 weeks pp and still haven’t been cleared to work out. I exercised my entire pregnancy, and still gained 50lbs. I was expecting the weight to just fall right off but that hasn’t been the case. I had a horrific delivery (4th degree tear, and 2nd degree internal tear, failed epidural) and wasn’t healed by my 6 week check up like I had hoped. my doctor told me I had to wait at least another 2 weeks before I could start working out again. i’ve been going on walks just to try to make myself feel better but the truth is, I feel awful about my body right now. i’m down 25lbs since birth but i’m not at all where I want to be. I can’t wait to be able to get back into the gym and start to feel like myself again. i love my son so much and im so grateful for him, and it’s been hard trying to remember all that my body did to give me him. my goal is to be thankful for all that my body did for me instead of hating what it looks like now. I know in time i’ll be able to get back to where I was pre pregnancy.

... Read morePostpartum body changes can be overwhelming, especially after a challenging delivery. It's crucial to acknowledge that every mother's journey is unique. As you navigate through the emotional and physical adjustments of the postpartum period, it’s essential to be kind to yourself. Establishing a support system of family and friends can help immensely. Consider joining community groups or online forums where mothers share their experiences and tips, providing emotional support and practical advice. Remember, postpartum recovery takes time; your body has gone through a lot, and the healing process is gradual. Incorporating gentle exercises, like walking, can be a good start, fostering both physical and mental well-being. Nutrition also plays a vital role in postpartum recovery; ensuring you nourish your body is key. Focus on a balanced diet to help regain energy while promoting weight loss in a healthy way. As you begin to feel stronger, incrementally reintroducing workouts can be revitalizing. Celebrate small victories to maintain motivation and positivity. Ultimately, cultivating a positive body image is crucial during this transition. Instead of focusing solely on physical appearance, shift the perspective to honor what your body has accomplished. Practicing self-love and gratitude can pave the way for a healthier mindset as you embrace this new chapter of motherhood.
