Celebrating losing 50 pounds
That feeling when you’re officially 50 pounds down…
This time last year, I was 225 pounds which was heavier than I had ever been in my life. And though people said it was in “all the right places,” I was sad, I was uncomfortable, and I was tired. I couldn’t move the way I used to. Walking fast felt like a chore. Stairs felt like mountains. And the worst part? I didn’t even feel like me anymore.
There were days when I’d sit on the floor of my closet in tears because nothing fit. I stopped going shopping with friends. I didn’t want to be seen. And while the number on the scale doesn’t define me, I knew something had to change—not just physically, but emotionally and mentally.
Fast forward to today: I weigh 174 pounds. I feel strong, confident, and capable. I can keep up with my friends at the park. I enjoy getting dressed again. I like the reflection I see. And I finally feel like the fun, happy version of myself again.
So how did I celebrate this milestone? I bought myself a new pair of Levi’s and best believe I plan on wearing them in July… when I see Beyoncé.

Now back to health, healing, and hot girl walks.
It’s amazing how much a significant weight loss can transform not just your body, but your entire outlook on life. Many of you are probably wondering, 'How did she do it?' While every journey is unique, losing 50 pounds, whether it takes 3 months or 8 months, boils down to a few key principles I've learned along the way. For me, and for many I’ve spoken with, it wasn't about quick fixes but consistent, small changes. I focused on making healthier food choices – think more whole foods, lean proteins, and plenty of veggies. Cutting back on sugary drinks and processed snacks made a huge difference. Portions became more mindful, and I paid attention to what truly nourished my body rather than just filling it up. Movement was also crucial. I started with gentle walks, gradually increasing intensity and duration. Even just dedicating myself to 'DAY 6' of a new fitness routine or making sure I hit my daily steps added up. It's truly amazing what a consistent effort can do. Consistency, not perfection, is the secret ingredient. Some days are harder than others, but getting back on track is what counts. Beyond the number on the scale, what does 'losing 50 pounds' truly feel like? It's more than just fitting into old clothes. It's the newfound energy to tackle your day without feeling drained. It’s climbing stairs without getting winded, enjoying a hike with friends, or even just chasing after pets or kids with ease. Physically, you notice it in how you carry yourself. Your joints might feel less strained, and everyday movements become lighter. You feel nimbler, and your body feels more capable. You might start to notice your bone structure more, or muscle definition appearing where there wasn't any before. It’s hard to visualize '50 pounds of fat,' but when it's gone from your body, you absolutely feel the difference! The transformation isn't just external; it's deeply internal. That feeling of sadness and discomfort the author described? It slowly gets replaced with confidence and joy. You start to feel more like yourself, or even a better version of yourself. It's about regaining control and proving to yourself what you're capable of. This journey isn't always linear – some weeks you might lose more, some less, but consistency is key. Whether you're aiming for a 3-month sprint or an 8-month marathon, celebrating every milestone, big or small, keeps you motivated. Seeing those non-scale victories, like increased stamina or a healthier glow, is just as rewarding as the number dropping on the scale. Just like the author celebrated with new Levi's and a Beyoncé concert, finding ways to reward your hard work is so important. It reinforces the positive changes and keeps you looking forward. This journey is about health, healing, and becoming the best version of you, one step at a time!
