Too Old For college?๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿ“š

For starters I graduated in 2020. Hated it. Everything was online even after we were allowed back outside. Professors were a$$holes and I had no time for that so I dropped out. I was supposed to go to the Navy after but I chickened out. Iโ€™ve been working and traveling ever since, but if I want a great, stable life imma need an education. Looks can only get you soo far if youโ€™re not selling ๐Ÿฑ.

I feel like right now is the best time for me to finish school. Iโ€™m more mature, managing time better and have a better idea of what it is I want for MY life. Before I was only majoring in nursing because of my grandma and the money.

... Read moreIt's a question many of us secretly ask: 'Am I too old for college?' Especially when you're in your early twenties, like 20, 22, or 23, and feel like everyone else finished years ago. But let me tell you, from my own experience, the answer is a resounding NO! The idea that there's a 'right' age to pursue higher education is a myth that holds so many back. In fact, finishing college at 22 years old, or even later, can be one of the best decisions you make. When I decided to return, I had so many doubts. I'd seen my friends graduate, start careers, and I worried I was behind. But what I've found is that being a bit older actually comes with significant advantages. For one, you're often more focused. You've had life experiences, perhaps worked a bit, traveled, and gained a clearer understanding of what you truly want out of your education and career. This isn't just about getting a degree; it's about investing in a future that genuinely excites you, not just following a path others expect. Time management, for example, felt like a huge hurdle. Balancing work, personal life, and studies seemed impossible initially. But with maturity comes better organizational skills and a stronger sense of discipline. I've learned to prioritize, create realistic schedules, and utilize every spare moment effectively. Many colleges are also much better equipped now to support adult learners, offering flexible online courses, evening classes, and resources tailored to non-traditional students. These options make it much easier to integrate studies into an already busy life. Another common concern is fitting in. Will you be surrounded by teenagers? While there will certainly be younger students, you'll also find a diverse range of ages on campus and in online programs. Many people return to college after years in the workforce, or even after raising a family. You'll likely discover a supportive community of peers who share similar life experiences and motivations. Plus, your unique perspective and real-world experience can enrich classroom discussions significantly. Don't let the fear of being 'too old for college' stop you from achieving your goals. Whether you're considering going to college at 20, 22, 23, or any age beyond, your life experience is an asset, not a drawback. It brings a level of dedication and clarity that younger students might still be developing. Itโ€™s about building a stable life, pursuing growth, and finally getting that education you know you deserve. Itโ€™s a journey thatโ€™s uniquely yours, and the timing is always right when you are ready.
