Homemade Beef Pho Recipe

🛒 INGREDIENTS
Broth Base:
2 lbs beef ribs
1 lb oxtail
1 large onion (halved)
4-inch piece fresh ginger (halved)
4–5 star anise
1 cinnamon stick
3 whole cloves
1 tsp coriander seeds
1 tbsp rock sugar
2 tbsp fish sauce
Salt to taste
4–5 quarts water
To Serve:
Rice noodles (pho noodles)
Thinly sliced brisket or eye-round beef (optional)
Fresh herbs (Thai basil, cilantro, green onion)
Bean sprouts, lime wedges, jalapeño

1️⃣ Parboil ribs + oxtail for 5 minutes. Drain and rinse clean.
2️⃣ Char onion and ginger over open flame or under the broiler until slightly blackened.
3️⃣ Simmer bones, onion, ginger, and spices in water for 4–6 hours (skim often for a clear broth).
4️⃣ Season with fish sauce, rock sugar, and salt to taste.
5️⃣ Assemble bowls: Add noodles, sliced beef, and toppings. Pour hot broth over to cook thin beef
slices instantly.
