I Swear I’ll Learn My Lesson One Day...

I don’t know what kind of curse this is, but every time a man gives off slightly toxic energy, my brain goes “yes, him 😍.”

Please tell me I’m not the only one with this terrible taste in men 😭 why are toxic guys always the most charming??

#AskLemon8 #letschat #meme #girltalk #toxicmen

... Read moreIt's a frustrating and common experience to find yourself drawn to men who display toxic traits despite knowing it’s not healthy. Many people wonder why toxic men seem to exude a charm that's hard to resist, leading to repeated patterns of attraction to them. This phenomenon can be explained by a mix of psychological factors and social conditioning. Toxic men often exhibit intense confidence, unpredictability, and emotional highs that jolts the brain’s reward system, making interactions feel exciting and addictive. This can stimulate the release of dopamine, a neurotransmitter responsible for pleasure and reward, causing a sense of thrill that’s hard to let go of. Additionally, toxic behaviors like manipulation or emotional unavailability can trigger a desire to 'fix' or 'save' the person, which some find fulfilling on a subconscious level. Moreover, past experiences and upbringing play a role in shaping our attraction patterns. People who grew up in environments where toxic behavior was normalized may find themselves repeating these dynamics unknowingly. Recognizing these patterns is the first step toward breaking the cycle. Being aware of the allure toxic men hold helps in making conscious choices for healthier relationships. Setting boundaries, seeking supportive friendships, and possibly talking to a counselor or therapist can help retrain preferences toward individuals who offer respect and positive energy. If you find yourself attracted to men with toxic traits, remember you are not alone, and it’s a challenge many face. Understanding why toxic men can be so charming allows you to take back control and work towards finding partners who truly contribute to your well-being and happiness.

I’m married and quite literally just had a baby three days ago with the most incredible, kind man I have ever met in my life. Three years and a whole different body later and he still treats me like I’m the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen. And yet, my ass still keeps waiting for that other shoe to drop and for him to show his toxic, narcissistic side. Toxic men are charming because they are capable of hiding their true colors but only for a very short period of time. Give them 3-6 months and they will show you who they really are. The problem is, when they do, women think it’s “just a rough patch” and they “know the real him and he’s amazing”. So they keep waiting for him to turn back into that guy and they usually will for short bursts of time but that toxic guy will just keep coming back. Took me almost 3 years to admit to myself that my ex was just an asshole wearing the costume of a good man whenever he knew I was catching on and getting ready to leave.
