We Got Rushed Out of a Booth on Sunday Morning
My family of four went out for breakfast on Sunday at a very busy spot.
About 40 minutes in, the owner came over, asked how everything was, and thanked us for coming. It felt a little pointed, but we did not think much of it.
A few minutes later he walked by again, touched our table, and told his staff they could seat five people here. Not even three minutes after that, he came back with a much firmer tone and said again that he was glad everything was good.
I paid the bill while my husband and mother in law were still finishing their coffees. When I came back, the owner was snapping his fingers at us to hurry up and leave the booth.
We had been there 52 minutes total. There was no sign about time limits and no one told us anything when we sat down. Our server had just refilled the coffee when the rushing started.
Were we wrong for staying that long or was the owner out of line? How long is appropriate to occupy a restaurant table at weekend breakfast?
